Two invasive Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes were discovered for the first time in Long Beach last week. The Compton Creek Mosquito Abatement District (District) joined a dozen members of the Long Beach Health Department (LBHD) in going door to door for property inspections in North Long Beach.
Contractors with the Compton Creek Mosquito Abatement District (CCMAD) began removing vegetation and debris clogging the Compton Creek this week. Clearing the debris will restore water flow and eliminate a large stagnant pool – an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes.
The Compton Creek Task Force Revitalization Committee responds to the city of Compton's needs to keep the bike paths clear, with help from volunteers, the Compton Creek Mosquito Abatement District (CCMAD) and local elected city officials. Everyone is doing their part to keep Compton clean.
